As 2020 began, the worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic was in its early stages.  Waltrip High School was soon to be impacted and the Spring 2020 Semester brought closure and suspension of the HISD education process……the future was uncertain.  The fall semester has created new challenges and obstacles as we continue to adapt and face the Pandemic.  The Waltrip Alumni Association has met this challenge by using new technology (Zoom Video Conferencing used by the WAA Executive Board) to discuss, plan, and support current and future needs related to the teachers, students, staff, and administrators at Waltrip High School.  We are committed to listening to the needs of the student body, teachers, staff, and administrators.  WAA is celebrating it’s eleventh-year anniversary and has established relationships, supported Waltrip initiatives, and will continue to provide help for the current students, teachers, administrators.  Scholarships are a very, very important aspect of the overall mission of the WAA…your help is greatly needed in this area.  WAA also provides a forum for Waltrip graduates to gather and share.  Here are a few ways you can participate:

  • 1.)    Join the WAA.  Here is a membership link:  http://www.waltripalumni.org/page-815979?
  • 2.)    Help Financially.  Become a paid member in one of the following ways:
  • Alumni Individual Annual Membership (Voting Privileges) - $25.00
  • Alumni Couple Annual Membership (Voting Privileges) - $40.00
  • Alumni Individual Annual GOLD MEMBER (Voting Privileges) - $100.00
  • Alumni Couple Annual GOLD MEMBER (Voting Privileges) - $200.00
  • 3.)    Visit the WAA website: http://www.waltripalumni.org/  to find more ways to be involved and to keep up with past, current, and future events.
  • 4.)    Give to the General Fund or Scholarship fund: http://www.waltripalumni.org/page-1728894

We have a responsibility to each other and the current Waltrip Students to not only to uphold the values and education we received but to support and encourage the current and future leaders of our city, state, country, and world.  The WAA is a great place to “give back” and be a part of something special that can and will have a lasting legacy.

It is a great honor to be working with all involved.  I look forward to not only meeting these very challenging times with courage and hope, but to bringing this courage and hope to the students, teachers, administrators at our beloved Waltrip High School.  Together we can and will accomplish good and lasting things that will make Waltrip, the community, and our world a better place.

The future is ours to mold and fashion.

Stan Terry
